Pallotti School of Music
Belize is located on the northeastern coast of Central America and has the lowest population and population density of Central America. Founded in 1966, the Pallotti School of Music is a Belizean Non-Profit Organization whose mission is to create a space for musicians in Belize where there is a lack of professional music institutions. This program is hosted by Pallotti High School in Belize City, with a population of 57,000 people. The Pallotti School is also in partnership with The National Youth Orchestra and Choir of Belize (NYOCB) and The Belize Choral Society.
Mexico
Orquestando Armonia
Founded in Boca del Rio and located at the center of the Mexican state Veracruz, Orquestando Armonia provides free musical instruction to hundreds of students from the El Manantial Colony region of Boca del Rio. This program seeks to alleviate the most troubling issues faced in Boca del Rio, such as crime, drugs, and pollution.
While Orquestando Armonia does put an emphasis on music education, they also strive to maintain a well rounded support system for their student body. In addition to musical training, Orquestando Armonia also offers one on one therapy sessions, placing an emphasis on mental wellness and offering a safe space for their students. This program also shines a light on the troubles of pollution and teaches students alternative methods that can lead to a more sustainable way of living. An example of this is their amazing initiative to build instruments out of recycled materials.
Honduras
La Fundación Artes Educativas Coros y Orquestas de Honduras
FARECOH is an organization based in Honduras dedicated to offering orchestra, choral, theater, painting, danza, and other art programs aimed at high-risk youth. The foundation’s programs seeks to prevent them from youth crime and other social risk by promoting artistic activities with emphasis on the most vulnerable.
Guatemala
Orquesta, Coro y Conservatorio Alaíde Foppa
Alaide Foppa was a poet, writer, and an activist defending women's rights during a tumultuous time in guatemalan history, she was raptured and disappeared by a military oriented government in 1980. This music program exclusive for women is currently run by Julio Solórzano, son of Alaíde, and their mission is to create awareness about the vulnerable situation guatemalan women face due to violence and racism, contributing to a national dialogue on civil rights and gender equality.
